To carry on pre-paid subscriber roaming between LTE (News– Alert) and 3G networks, Diametriq has announced the addition of CAMEL/WIN to its Diameter Interworking System.

Diametriq along with a Tier-1 operator have developed the CAMEL/WIN specification solving a critical challenge of supporting subscriber services as operators transition to 4G and beyond.

An optional feature of the Diameter Interworking System is Diametriq’s Application Selector Function (ASF). It simplifies the integration of third party applications such as “Pre-paid or Post-paid Billing Systems”, “Clearing and Financial Settlement Systems” and “Bill Shock and Churn Systems.”

4G networks need to work with 3G networks as operators around the world during their migration will have hybrid environments with of 3G and 4G network elements.

The Diameter Interworking System works as a Diameter Interworking Function (IWF). It provides an interworking capability for Diameter and SS7 that can be dynamically customized using script or plug-ins. It supports a number of use cases including the standardized MAP to/from Diameter (e.g., S6a, S6d, S13, S13′ to GSM MAP and ANSI-41 MAP).

The Diameter Solution Suite offers the flexibility to meet the demands of today’s wireless operators that must manage the surge in signaling traffic brought about by the dramatic growth in smartphone, tablet and other wireless devices. In addition, the enhanced Diameter Interworking System will be featured at LTE North America 2013 taking place on November 20-22 in Dallas.

Anjan Ghosal, president and CEO of Diametriq commented on the new capabilities noting that, “A major benefit of Diametriq’s Diameter Interworking System is that it may be interfaced to any vendor’s Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) for easy integration to other network elements. We offer a cost-effective alternative to upgrading a legacy system or purchasing a new one.”

With an eye on enabling customers to have good experiences as mobile networks migrate to next generation capabilities, the ability for the signaling network to support legacy as well as new capabilities is critical, especially in support of popular services like pre-paid.
